Job Title: Senior Designer (SD-RG)
Location: North Hollywood, CA
Job Duties: Develop and design manufactured products, including home goods and textiles. Combine artistic talent with market-based research on product use, marketing, and materials to create the most functional and appealing product design. Confer with marketing, production, quality, and sales departments, as well as with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products. Coordinate the look and function of product lines. Develop industrial standards and regulatory guidelines. Develop manufacturing procedures and monitor the manufacture of their designs to improve operations and product quality. Direct and coordinate the fabrication of models or samples and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets from sketches. Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics. Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends. Participate in new product planning or market research, including studying the potential need for new products. Present designs and reports to customers or design committees for approval and discuss need for modification. Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements. Supervise assistants' work throughout the design process. Responsible for working with the product development and marketing teams to meet deadlines for creating and passing product specs. Responsible for following up through all stages of development, from concept to completion. Leverage most current CAD methods to achieve desired aesthetics in knit applications, painterly techniques and accurate construction qualities. Complete technical specifications for textile designs. Manage communications between CAD and internal/external working partners, including color, design, merchandising, fabric research and development, overseas offices, technology vendors, print studios and IT to provide necessary CAD services, troubleshooting and resolution of CAD-related support issues. Develop design spec sheets, which include detailed directions to factories; and Establish initial block spec and construction details.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design or related and 5 years’ experience in same or related position
